Terms

Last updated October 14, 2026

The short version

  • The Couples Contract is a conversation tool, not a legal contract. It isn’t legally binding in any way.
  • Your answers are yours. We only store them so you can use the Contract.
  • One purchase of the Contract covers both of you.
  • WhoIs? comes with a warranty against defects.

Using our site

These terms cover thecouplescompany.com and the products sold here by The Couples Company LLC, a California company. By using the site or buying something, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

The Couples Contract is not legally binding

The Couples Contract is a guided conversation that two people write down together. It is not a legal contract, and nothing in it can be enforced by anyone. It isn’t legal, financial, medical or therapeutic advice either. For those, please talk to a qualified professional. If anything in your relationship feels unsafe, please reach out to someone you trust or a local support service.

Your account and your answers

You own what you write. You give us permission to store and process your answers only so you and your partner can use the Contract, and for nothing else. Keep your login to yourself, and only invite a partner who has agreed to take part. You can delete your answers or your contract at any time.

Purchases

Prices are in US dollars and shown before you pay. One purchase of The Couples Contract covers both partners. Digital products are available as soon as your purchase goes through. For WhoIs?, shipping costs and delivery estimates are shown at checkout. If something isn’t right with an order, email us and we’ll work it out with you.

WhoIs? warranty

We warrant WhoIs? to be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for 15 days after you receive it. If something arrives damaged or defective, email us within that time and we’ll replace the affected cards or box. The warranty doesn’t cover normal wear and tear, misuse, or damage after delivery.

Using the site fairly

Please don’t misuse the site: no attempts to break it, scrape it, access other people’s information, or use it for anything unlawful.

Our name and our work

THE COUPLES COMPANY and THE COUPLES CONTRACT are registered trademarks of The Couples Company LLC. The site’s writing, designs, question lists and the WhoIs? cards are ours. Feel free to share links, but please don’t copy or resell our content.

The legal fine print

We work hard to keep the site and products running well, but we provide them as they are, without warranties beyond the ones stated here. To the extent the law allows, The Couples Company isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for the product involved. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

These terms are governed by the laws of California. If any part of them can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.

Changes and contact

If we update these terms, we’ll change the date at the top. Questions? Email hello@thecouplescompany.com.
